A general consensus emerged quickly in western media that the Serbs were to blame for the conflicts that destroyed Yugoslavia. \u00a0 But there were journalists and academics who challenged this.<\/p>\n

In 1994, Charles Maynes, editor of the US publication ‘Foreign Policy’, organised a debate between those who believed that Yugoslavia had been a triumph for the media and those who felt that it had been a dark hour for journalism.<\/p>\n
